Professional Development
Pre-K to College

Picture
Teachers are the key to America's STEM future. We provide STEM K-12 and College professional development to schools across the country.
"The more you know, the faster they go!"

  • Improve understanding & achievement in STEM subjects.
  • Model the academically successful use of critical thinking & problem-solving investigations.
  • Increase the number of high school graduates declaring STEM related college majors.

"The program introduced me to engineering in a way that other courses in school had not. I was learning about STEM before most people had ever heard the word.  I kept in touch with my Mentors in the program all through GA Tech and now that I am an aeronautical engineer, I work with the program to mentor other kids growing up in the same school I attended."

STEM Practice Leagues

Ten80 Student Racing Challenge:
NASCAR STEM Initiative

Picture
Maverick Race Team at Finals 2012
Middle and High School students in 23 states take part in a practice league for STEM. Racing 1:10 scale radio controlled vehicles as a race team with challenges in marketing, aerodynamics, race engineering, robotics, mechanical engineering,  alternative energies and project planning.
“Engineering” occurs at the intersection of science, math and technology. Ten80's engineer-educator teams view engineering and “problem solving” as performing arts that are only mastered through practice. Musicians practice before taking the stage. Athletes practice for years before hitting the big leagues. Future STEM professionals should not be expected to perform at a professional level never having actually played the game. We believe it is our job, as successful members of our communities, to provide a development and practice league for future professionals. We’re doing that through the Student Racing Challenge and invite you to get involved too.
